VISIT THE SMITHY
If you are lucky, the small smithy in the Mayor’s Yard will be blazing away. Then you can see how iron is forged for the likes of tools or horseshoes.
An authentic smithy from 1906
P. Larsen’s smithy was established at the Mayor’s Yard in 1906 and operated here for several years. Recently, the smithy became part of the museum’s permanent exhibition and operates as a workshop.
The smithy features an exhibition about the 2000+ year history of smiths: from the forging of armour and shoeing horses to tooth extraction.
