In the ancient courtyard of the Mayor\u2019s Yard there are tables and benches, which visitors are more than welcome to use. Feel free to enjoy your packed lunch here. The museum shop sells a selection of hot drinks and ice cream.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mayor\u2019s Yard in Nyborg is a listed building. But, in spite of its stairs and high door steps, it is still a great place for visitors with reduced mobility or those with a pushchair or pram.<\/span><\/p>\n

Avoid the stairs
<\/strong>If you want to avoid the stairs to the ticket office, we will be happy to open the gate and let you into the museum courtyard.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the gate you can follow a flat granite track, which provides access to the courtyard, the garden and the special exhibition gallery.<\/span><\/p>\n

The courtyard and garden
<\/strong>In the charming courtyard of the merchant\u2019s house there are tables and benches, where visitors can enjoy a cup of coffee when the weather is fine. From the courtyard, even visitors with reduced mobility can access the back garden with its herb garden and old Great Belt iceboat, which is currently being refurbished.<\/span><\/p>\n

Access to special exhibitions
<\/strong>From the back garden there is a disability-friendly entrance to the Aarsleff gallery,\u00a0 which is dedicated to the museum\u2019s special exhibitions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Toilets
<\/strong>Toilets can be accessed directly from the yard via a wheelchair ramp. One of the three toilets is a large, pleasant accessible toilet.<\/span><\/p>\n

The merchant\u2019s house
<\/strong>The Mayor\u2019s Yard is a two-storey listed building. Both floors can only be accessed by stairs. In many places there are old, crooked wooden floors, uneven stone floors and high doorsteps. If, despite your reduced mobility, you think you can manage the stairs, uneven floors and high doorsteps, we will be happy to carry your walking frame up to both the ground floor and 1st floor.<\/span><\/p>\n

More than 400 years of history<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Mayor\u2019s Yard was built in 1601 by the town\u2019s mayor, Mads Lerche, a successful merchant. There had probably been an older building on the site in the past.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
